Artmigos

Frequently asked questions:

What is Artmigos?
Artmigos events use the power of individual gifts to create once-in-a-lifetime acquisitions of art. It's ideal for weddings, retirements, anniversaries, housewarmings, memoriams, business openings, and a host of other gift-giving events.

How can I start my own Artmigos event?
Artmigos is ideal for a wide range of gift-giving occasions. To start your own event, click here.

How does an Artmigos event work?
Artmigos participants donate individually toward a group gift of art. When total gifts reach the purchase price of the artwork, the event is closed. The artwork, when given to the recipient, is accompanied by a certificate listing the names of those who contributed.

What happens if the combined gifts don't reach the purchase price of the artwork?
In the event of a shortfall, Artmigos follows terms chosen by event originators before the sale. In some cases, event originators agree to cover the shortfall themselves. In other cases, event originators accept a gift certificate for a certain artist or gallery, which is then presented to the recipient.

How does Artmigos make money?
To defray the costs of website operation, excellent customer service, the creation of a certificate listing the givers, and credit card fund transfer, Artmigos earns a 20 percent commission on every piece of art sold through the service. Some artists and galleries choose to bear this cost themselves, others choose to mark pieces up slightly before starting an Artmigos event.
